Three Maine Instagram Accounts That Inspire My Antique Hunting

Summer in Maine means crisp blue waters, loons calling, the taste of lobster fresh from the steampot, cool summer nights, and the smell of basil picked straight from the herb garden. That is a Maine summer for me.

Those simple pleasures, along with these three Maine Instagram accounts inspire me, and fuel my creativity as I prepare my Maine-inspired collection and select the pieces I bring into your homes. Whether I'm antique hunting in Maine or doing old-fashioned picking in Maine’s quaintest villages,  these creators remind me why I love New England and the treasures waiting to be discovered.

Molly is the OG of Instagram—enough said. Her dogs, her décor, and her breathtaking coastal Maine views have become iconic. Even if you don't follow her on Instagram, you've probably seen her beautiful images shared on Pinterest or featured in magazines.

She is the real deal when it comes to coastal New England charm. From Blue Willow platters and coral collections to spongeware and all things nautical, she is a constant source of inspiration for anyone who loves coastal Maine home décor and classic New England decorating.

Her style encourages me to search for coral, blue-and-white spongeware, oil paintings, warm wooden bowls, and those simple decorative pieces that quietly elevate a space.

If you haven’t discovered him already, Alex Widener will find a place in your heart and in your Instagram feed. If you love antiques, coastal Maine, design, and self-deprecating humor, then Alex is your guy.

He deep dives into design and antique lessons while offering daily anecdotes about his daily life running his newly owned guest house and antique shop in Wiscasset, Maine. He’s genuine, charming, and funny, and he’s definitely one to watch!

Don’t miss content exploring antique shops in Maine, The Antique Show.  Alexander inspires me to keep searching for the unexpected—cloches, English pottery, Canton, and footstools accented with passementerie

Where do I start? Her food, her aesthetic, her story of triumph, and those meatloaf and chicken recipes are incredible. Most importantly, Erin is an inspiration for women entrepreneurs through her triumphant personal story.

You’re missing out, if you do not own one of her cookbooks. I love giving them out as gifts and have gifted multiple copies of Big Heart, Little Stove. And did I mention that she has a recipe for foaming rose sliver polish?

Erin is a lover of Blue Willow China and loves Maine Coast flea markets. And I’d like to think I’ve dickered with the same folks she has over Blue Willow at the exact same flea markets near Belfast.
