Joseph Holdcroft was a highly respected figure in English majolica, having worked at Minton before establishing the Sunderland Pottery at Daisy Bank, Longton in 1870. Known for his innovative techniques and patented earthenware production, Holdcroft created highly detailed majolica wares that became especially popular with collectors in America and Australia.
