Cherry blossom motifs became especially popular during the Victorian era as Western designers embraced the influence of Japanese art and the growing fascination with botanical subjects. American makers such as Griffin, Smith & Hill of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, incorporated these naturalistic designs into their colorful Etruscan Majolica wares.At approximately 8" tall, this pitcher has wonderful presence on a shelf, hutch, or table and would make a beautiful addition to an American majolica collection.
